Mauricio Antonio Mayorga, who has no fixed address, already incarcerated at the Arlington County Detention Center, has been charged with murder and use of firearm in the commission of a felony for his alleged role in the death of Woodbridge resident Richard Del Cid.
Shortly before 1:20 a.m. on Monday, March 20, officers from the Prince William County Police Department were called to the Hoadly Market Place on Hoadly Road in Manassas, where there was a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found Cid suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and treated him at the scene until paramedics arrived at the scene and pronounced him dead from his injuries.
The initial investigation determined that the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the two men and a woman who was also present during the shooting.
Cid and the woman reportedly met at the shopping center to exchange documents, while Mayorga followed them to a different area in the parking lot, where the shooting took place.
According to police, Mayorga turned himself in to police on an outstanding warrant from another jurisdiction, and during the investigation into Cid’s murder, detectives identified him as a suspect.
Mayorga was served on the charges related to the homicide investigation while he was in the Arlington Detention Center for the previous charge, which is unrelated to the murder.
He is in custody and his court date is pending.
